As one of the few female founders in Australia to take a tech company public, I’ve navigated the challenges of launching and scaling a startup firsthand.
Today, as an advisor to tech companies and family offices across New York and Australia, I help purpose-led founders and CEOs refine their positioning strategy, build meaningful customer experiences and innovate to drive growth.
Tinybeans
In 2011, I co-founded Tinybeans, the family photo-sharing app that New York Magazine called the “most loving space on the internet”. That still gives me all the feels, knowing we built a company that made millions of families happy.
Tinybeans began as a two-person startup in Sydney. We bootstrapped for nearly three years, wearing every hat; from customer service and sales, to product development and fundraising.
By the time of our IPO in 2017, we’d grown to over 1.5m global users, maintained a 5-star rating in the App Store and moved our HQ to New York. We managed multiple revenue streams as both a B2C and B2B business - all while raising young children and relocating to the other side of the world.
I know how hard it can be for founders and CEOs to step out of the day-to-day hustle to work on strategy.
But I also know how frustrating it can get when your team gets bigger and starts pulling in different directions and your ambitious growth goals feel increasingly elusive.
